Cut and Paste Help

Go to http://counter.bloke.com/
1. Click on "Get a Counter!".
2. Enter your information....
3.Click on "Register".
4. When the page displaying your html code appears use your mouse to select/ highlight the code
beginning with the first <-- and ending with the last -->.
5. Press Control + C to copy the code.
(5 b. This step is not mandatory is often a good idea. Open Notepad or any other text editor and
press Control + V to paste the code into the open document. Now save the document as "counter
code" or any other name you'll be able to remember.)
6. Open your AOLPress, Netscape Composer, Frontpage, or MS Publisher.
7. In your web page editor, i.e. AOLPress, Netscape Composer, Frontpage, or MS Publisher, place
your cursor where you want the counter to appear.

8 A. AOLPress only:
a. On the top tool bar go to the "Tools" pull down menu. From the "Tools" menu select "Show
HTML."
b. The html source code window will open with your cursor flashing in the location you chose.
c. Press Control + V to paste the code into the html source code.
d. In the top tool bar, select "Window" the name of the document you have open will appear twice
in the drop down menu. One reference will be you page title, the other will be your page's file name
plus the htm or html extension, e. g. "Cruise's Home Page" "index.html". If you are using frames,
them frame file name will appear, e.g. "Cruise's Home Page" "frame1.html". (Of course if you're
using frames you're probably pasting your code instead of reading this.) Select the title of your page
as your are already in thefilename.htm/html window.
e. When the "normal" view of your page returns, Save your page. A window will open that asks:
"Apply changes in html window to filename.html?"
f. Select "Apply."
g. The normal view returns showing your changes. Important: If you are not online, the java
counter will not appear, an icon showing a broken picture will appear instead. This is not a
problem! It merely means that AOLPress cannot load the image now. When the page is
published, or when you open a connection, the java counter applet will appear.
8 B. Netscape Composer only:
a. On the top tool bar go to the "Tools" pull down menu. From the "HTML Tools" menu select
"Edit HTML Source."
b. The html editor window will open..
c. Press Control + V to paste the code into the html source code.
d. Click apply.
e. When the "normal" view of your page returns, Save your page.
f. The normal view returns showing your changes. Important: If you are not online, the java
counter will not appear, an icon showing a broken picture will appear instead. This is not a
problem! It merely means that Composer cannot load the image now. When the page is
published, or when you open a connection, the java counter applet will appear.
8 C. Frontpage only:
a. On the folder tabs located at the bottom of the Frontpage window, select the "html" tab.
b. The html editor window will open..
c. Press Control + V to paste the code into the html source code.
d. Save your page.
e. Select the "Preview" tab to preview the page ot the "Normal" tab to return to the editor.
Important: If you are not online, the java counter will not appear, an icon showing a broken
picture will appear instead. This is not a problem! It merely means that Composer cannot load
the image now. When the page is published, or when you open a connection, the java counter
applet will appear.
8 D. MS Publisher only:
a. On the top tool bar go to the "Insert" pull down menu. Select "HTML code fragment".
b. Click on the open document where you want the counter to appear.
c. The html editor window will open.
d. Press Control + V to paste the code into the html editor window.
e. Click apply.
f. When the "normal" view of your page returns, you will see the code in window that is sized for
you counter.
g. Save your page.
h. MS Publisher assures me that the code will be converted to the image when the page is
published, but I haven't tried it myself.
